Media Production Classes Application
Attention 6th Graders,
Do you like making and editing your own videos?  How would you like to be on our HMS news team and help produce our morning announcements?  If so, now is the time for 6th graders to apply for our 7th Grade Media Production Classes for next school year. The 7th grade class is a pre-requisite for being on our HMS Morning Announcements news team in 8th grade.   The number of students accepted to the classes is limited so you must apply.
To show your interest in the class, CLICK HERE to fill out the interest form.  Mr. Mason will then send you an email with more information about supplying writing and/or video samples and teacher recommendations.  The deadline to submit your interest form has been extended to Monday, April 19th.  Feel free to contact Mr. Mason at if you have more questions.

Lakeside Mentoring Program
This message is for all 8th Graders!  Moving on to high school can be stressful.  But having someone to help you navigate the process might be helpful. For this reason, Lakeside High School provides a peer mentoring program just for you.  Peer mentors are Lakeside students who can help you with basically everything, such as providing good advice, how to find your classes,  what clubs and sports to join,  which games or events to attend, favorite teachers and classes,  and many other things!  For more information, please contact Mr. Tinsley, the 9th grade Counselor at Lakeside High School at Or use the links below to download the flyer or access the mentor interest form.
PTSA Reflections Winner
Congratulations to HMS 7th Grader Daniel Green for winning 2nd Place in the photography division of  this year's State PTSA Reflections contest.  Daniel's winning photograph is titled "Railway" and he states that the railway represents life and the fence represents obstacles that come our way. Congrats to Daniel and thank you to all the HMS students who submitted entries to this years Reflections contest.
Checking Out Books from the HMS Library
Hello Students,
Now that we have in-person and virtual learners at HMS, here is an update on checking out books from the HMS Library:

To check out your books:

  • First, log in to Destiny, which is our online catalog system, using the Destiny links in Clever or on the Media Center Webpage on the school website.

  • Your username is your s# and your password is mydestiny.

  • Once logged in you can search for  books and when you find the one(s) you want, click on Hold. This will notify Mr. Mason that you want to check out the book.

  • You will be notified by your school email address when your book is ready to be picked up. You can have up to 3 books check out at a time.

To pick up your books
  • Whether you are learning in person or virtually, you can pick up books at the school during school hours. Your books will be on a cart just inside the main entrance to the school.  When you come, press the door buzzer and someone will let you in to pick up your books from the cart.

  • If you are an in person learner, we can bring your books to your classroom too.  Just ask your teacher to let me know and we can bring your books to the classroom for pickup.

To return books:
  • To return a book, drop them in the book return box which is also located just inside the main entrance door.  You will need to press the buzzer to be let in.  Please return your books by the due date.

  • There will not be any late fees for overdue books.
