Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

The results of your child’s Georgia Milestones: End-of-Grade Assessment (EOG) are attached. The purpose of the EOG is to provide diagnostic data that can be used to enhance instructional programs. The EOG was created to improve student achievement through effective instruction and assessment of the standards in the state’s designated Mathematics, Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science courses. The EOG helps to ensure that all Georgia students have access to a rigorous curriculum that meets high performance standards.

For students in Grades 3, 5, and 8, this assessment serves as a promotion requirement as required by state law. However, for the 2015-2016 school year, according to The Georgia Board of Education, the End of Grade Assessments (EOG) for Elementary and Middle Schools have been waived, and will not be used for promotional purposes. End of Grade scores will be recorded in the Student Permanent Record and included on the student transcript in accordance to previous DeKalb County School District (DCSD) business regulations.
